Patty Cooper has done it again....this time with an absolutely wonderful book on the Dolly Dear accessories that collectors of vintage dollhouses love to add to their little houses to make them a complete home.
"Dolly Dear Dollhouse
Accessories is the story of Rossie Turner Kirkland, a talented artist, living
in a small Tennessee town, whose kitchen table business expanded during the
Great Depression and World War II to sales in major department stores across the
country. The tiny items she created were intended to complement dollhouse
furniture sold by companies such as Schoenhut, Strombecker, Tynietoy, and
Lynnfield. They are highly collectible and findable, but were difficult to
identify until the publication of this book which contains more than 350
examples, most in the original packaging."
Rossie Kirkland provided accessories for every room of the dollhouse....and even items for the man of the dollhouse!
A few of the items produced for the living room....with the fascinating "piped frosting" effect....were
vases and bowls....
floor lamps...
and table lamps....
pictures for the dollhouse walls....
bookcases....
and even floor length curtains.
Among the items for the dining room that were available were.....
matching sets of table and wall decorations....
a set of dessert dishes with dessert and utensils included.....
accessories for the dining room mantel.....
and many lovely tea sets in white, yellow, pink and blue.
Moving on to a selection of the bedroom accessories available we find.....
a carded set of lamp, vase, picture and rug...

and vanity and bedside table lamps.
Some items for the nursery that were produced included.....
adorable little nursery chairs which included a potty bowl....
nursery sets for both boys and girls......
a baby products basket.....
and pictures for the nursery walls.
Lovely bathroom sets produced included....
sets with towels, mats, towel bars, tissue holder and shower curtain with ring....
For the dollhouse kitchen , Dolly Dear made many different items. Some are shown below....
a set of cleaning items and a carpet sweeper...
a vacuum cleaner (just like the Electrolux my mom had that I liked to ride on when she was cleaning)....
a set with mixing bowl and wall shelf, kitchen clocks....
Canisters galore....
Food for the table.....many complete table settings of luncheons/dinners/breakfast were also available
and pastries that look good enough to eat!
Lawn, garden and garage tools for the man of the dollhouse were also available....
a lawnmower and shovel....
and other tools for dad.
